When Systems Fail, Communities Show Up.

Since 2020, IBTU has served 62,475+ students across 34 school sites, distributed 875,500+ pounds of food, and stabilized 5,000+ families after the LA fires. We built a permanent Relief Resource Hub, activated 7,500+ volunteers, and mobilized $4.5 million in resources — all through 300+ partnerships and a community that shows up every single time.

Our Impact Pillars

IBTU’s crisis response infrastructure was battle-tested in January 2025 when the Palisades and Eaton fires displaced thousands of families. Within hours, IBTU transformed from a community programming organization into a fully operational disaster hub — mobilizing 1,800+ volunteers, delivering 10,560 meals to first responders in 14 days, and opening a permanent Relief Resource Hub at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza that now serves 324 active clients with an average of 23.4 visits per person. We stay ready so we don’t have to get ready.
